I never understood people complaining about their managers until I got a new one and started to ask the most clueless things.

A manager didn't have the right browser set as their default the other day. Had to stop myself from showing them how to change it.

You're being paid 4x my salary, I'm not showing you basic stuff like that.

@Nanos I'd be down for that. We might end up short on managers though and then who's left to attend the millions of unnecessary meetings?

@Nanos Maybe it's differs based on workplace, or country, or culture. I know that we've tried forums here and there's a definite diffusion of responsibility. If people aren't specifically asked something, they won't want to make a fuss and and assume that someone else will speak up. Especially if it's a well known issue that affects multiple people. Personally I've found multiple, small workgroups with dedicated time carved out of their schedules to be the most effective.

And I think tying salaries to profits could have its own set of issues. For example, if the company isn't doing too well, through no fault of the company's, and people aren't bringing home as much money, some may be more inclined to leave for something else and make things worse for the struggling company and the remaining employees.
