There is something so comfy about Java that I never get from other languages.

I don't know why but I genuinely enjoy writing 200 lines of boilerplate code. Maybe it makes me feel I am in control and not some syntactic magic like in Python or Javascript.

People keep ranting on java, yet it lives on.

    No, you are only allowed to like to write much code where you feel like you have the control without syntactic sugar if you are cool enough to program in C. Also you are not allowed to like Java.

    Kotlin feels like a breeze, but I do like Java too, regardless of the boilerplate code. I often use Lombok to get rid of the boilerplate.
