Are there any cons when choosing a Ryzen cpu for my new pc build, considering programming / development / linux?

    It's my understanding that some virtual machines run slower on AMD such as Android VM (due to Haxm), not sure if it has any merite and can't bench it as I don't own a ryzen unit.

    I think you'll already know about this. But since I didn't know about this, For a ryzen build you have to buy a gpu wheather a cheap one or a flagship one coz they don't have built in graphics.

    I like the fact that they don't have included graphics. I have had too many issues with Optimus on my laptop on Linux.
    I like to play games now and then, so a proper GPU is a requirement :)
