Summary

An online rts game played on the road network of OpenStreetMap with intuitively scriptable units.

Description
A game where you gather resources and command units on the road network of the world (+waters and air traffic). You would build supply networks, construct a defense strategy, invade territories and secure them from counterattacks. Obviously you wouldn't always be online, so you'd have to prepare strategies in the form of simple programs that work with very high level geographic terms like paths and strategic terms like priority queues. I suggest Java because Osmosis is written in java, and we'd need a way to sandbox untrusted code, for which Firecracker seems to be the best option. I don't have much time so this is more of a query for opinions than a proposal. Edit: for simplicity and because that's the point, off-road travel isn't allowed ever, except for planes and ships. A ship on the shore or a plane on ground not at an airport are considered crashed.

sounds really cool and super moddable.

set it in a whole region, like a u.s. state, let gangs of players vie for control.

@Wisecrack I was more thinking of the whole world, although that may be too large. India has essentially no chance to attack the US without a lot of shipping.

@Lor-inc " India has essentially no chance to attack the US without a lot of shipping."

Thats a matter for the players to solve.
