@gitpush how did they even get that idea. I guess it isn't as bad as some Romanian politicians have said it(gwoah-guhl or even goh-gleh)
  • 3
@RealKC it was written in Arabic and it does read as joojle but what's bad about is the one who read it knows how to speak English yet he read it joojle 😭

    Just a side note:

The name of the language was shortened from SEQUEL to SQL to avoid a trademark infringement.

I'm Italian so I say "Esse Qu Elle" 🇮🇹

Here we go again. I don't want to write it all yet again, you can search my rants for the explanation as well as mostly just read the comments in this rant, but one thing is omitted from this rant/comments.

@Alice additional to what was already said, the official pronounciation of some flavours of SQL are actually sequel, like MS SQL is pronounced sequel. MySQL official pronounciation is individual letters (my S Q L), but they don't mind you calling it my sequel (at least that's what was in the documentation when I last read it).
So even though it's a remnant from times when SQL was called SEQUEL it's still very much alive, much to the dismay of a lot of us :)

I say it in portuguese: "ess" "qê" "él"

    seequel? sooo.... CQL?

Sql is just pronounced like a single word shkhl without any vowels. For MySQL it's mysicle, like popsicle or bicycle.
  • 1
I say the letters. I think the divide corresponds heavily with mssql users and not.

@Ignisor queueing ass is always nice :)

I just say sequel because it flows easier and is faster to say than S.Q.L.
  • 2
Squeal, obviously. That's the sound you make after working long enough with it.
