Here is what I see in industry right now.
Don't go on math but get the gist.

1. 9 of 10 developers are Web developers
2. 9 in 10 developers want to be data scientist
3. 9 out of above actually give up and start doing Web development
4. 9 in 10 developers think CS education is not necessary.
5. 9 in 10 developers want to work for Google Facebook and Microsoft.
6. 9 in 10 developer don't make it to above companies.
7. 9 in 10 developers think design and test are important but never do it.
8. 9 out of 10 developers don't want to code after 5 years and just want to exit industry to non technical roles.
9. 9 out of 10 developers don't get rants and dev memes posted here.

What's your take on this

I will not make general statements, but answer the statements to myself

    1) I'm a webdeveloper, frontend to be specific
    2) I like graphing data, but that's it.
    3) still doing webdev mainly
    4) I never studied, and don't regret it
    5) nope, I don't work for these huge companies anymore
    6) probably true for me, but I don't try to
    7) I don't do design, other better people do that for me. I do work testdriven.
    8) I work professionally for 8 years now, still like it
    9) wat

    I’m mostly the 1/10 but some 9/10.

Self taught C# and database with a love of ETL and API. I work for enterprises that are not technology companies but need my skills to do their job better and faster. I use Selenium/ChromeDriver for ETL but have zero desire to be a web developer; I do keep up with it because they like to screw with my ETL flows.
