Fuck this god damn router. Up to now I was really happy with the router/modem my ISP gave me (UPC Connect Box) but today I set up pi-hole on my raspberry and found out that I can't change my fucking routers DNS settings....

    You cant change that in the routers DHCP server? Thats where you change it. Or if you can turn it off - do that and enable DHCP on pi-hole

    @Linux nope, it just gives me the option to enable or disable DHCP but even if it's disabled DHCPv6 fucks with the settings - using the pi as a DHCP server was my second guess this evening.

    @dsteiner
    Pi-hole has support for IPv6 thing I think.
    Dont kbosy, threw out pihole two month ago when I moved to pfsense

    yes i know that it has, but i can't disable the IPv6 DHCP stuff at my router, I can only disable IPv4 DHCP

    @Linux Oh? How come? Could you make a little +/- points on why you changed?

    @Jilano
    I have used UBNT EdgeRouter for years but I wanted a better firewall/IPS/IDS. So that's one reason.
    Also, I can block adservers directly in the firewall (pfsense) too, so there is no reason to have pihole running for me.

    @Linux well since my new job is pretty well paying I am actually thinking about gradually upgrading my whole Network to a proper solution anyway.

    Can you recommend a good router that can serve a 100sqm flat?

    @dsteiner
    I have not used consumer grade stuff in years actually. I have found it better to have a separate router with separate Access Points.
    For that, I can recommend UBNT. The EdgeRouter lineup is solid. But the Unifi routers seems quite cool - together with the AP's you can do some nice things without any effort at all!

    You can manage your AP's, Router and switches from a single webGUI (that actually looks really good!)

    Did I mention that the license cost is 0$ - forever?

    @Linux Sounds reasonable, thank you for the quick answer!

    @Linux yeah I know about unify products we had them at the old office.

    Also I'd like to upgrade my hardware to semi professional stuff. Will take a look at your recommendations

    Depending on you budget and time, you should check out Mikrotik also :) Slighty cheaper than UBNT.

    They CAN be a pain to set up, but damn they are stable.
    I have a 10Gbit Mikrotik Switch at home, payed $150 for that one, brand new.

    A friend of mine also recommended mikrotik to me - are they really that good?

    @dsteiner
    Oh yes, they are.
    All my switches are mikrotik, I have not used the AP's from them but I have not seen any bad review ever about them.
