being physically disabled is such a nightmare. i have experienced a whole different personality of being dependent on others , being incapable of basic tasks and feeling incomplete all the times. it's very humbling, and i have found a whole new respect for human body and social conduct.

just want to get whole again. don't know how long its going to take a humerus arm fracture to join back on is own, now that i got a plate screwed to the broken parts to keep them together.
the doctors will probably ask me to remove the external brace after a few months followed by exercises for next more months the complete bends/stretch will probably take 6-9 months and bone will join enough in 1-2 year after which i could get the plate removed (this is the happy case, not considering the high risk of my bones getting permanently twisted or plate getting envolped by bone mass )

everything simply sucks till then. imagine getting pushed back in your life by 2+ yrs in your prime age of 25.
farewell to my dreams of adventure sports, senior goals and gappy marriage .

folks, don't do stupid stuff that can get your body into trouble, you WILL regret.

Sorry to hear that, man. Don't lose hope. It is just a matter of being more hopeful than ever and believing in yourself for a better future. Patience and perseverance are the two important keys

God bless you with the best and speedy recovery 🙏

I fractured my clavicule year and a half ago. It wasn't as bad as to render me completely disabled, but my left arm was essentially unusable for most stuff, including dressing up, picking things up with both hands or reaching to high places. Took about a month for the bone to grow back enough so that I could get my sling removed and move it around again (the muscle atrophy alone is annoying, even after just short time I couldn't pull my arm any higher than shoulder level, it didn't as much hurt as I was simply not capable of doing it)

took additional two weeks to get to about 90% of my old mobility and then it slowly got back to 100% again.

Annoying thing is that with this kind of joint fracture there's no cast or brace I could use apparently, so I only got a sling and the bone didn't grow back correctly, so now I have a little bump there, but it's only a cosmetic problem...

Humans have a pretty good healing abilities tbh, you'll be ok again :)

@Hazarth hey thanks for sharing this, it was helpful.

what is your approach towards going for adventure activities or general travel to mountains, beaches etc, or any other general activities where being more excited or energetic might lead to some accident?

also are you married/in a relationship? what's your approach in that area, like could this impact your life as the man of the family?

    @dotenvironment

I'm generally a very careful person and I don't do crazy things. That doesn't mean I don't push my luck from time to time, but In general common sense keeps me alive. Check everything twice, take careful steps on uncertain surfaces, always grab onto something extra if you gonna go up or down a steep hill and in general I try to have a plan of execution if I'm aiming for some hard to get places...

But in truth I'm not the adventuring type, so Idk.

Regarding relationship, I'm in a serious relationship and trying to start a family... Working as a software engineer has the perks of not needing a lot of limbs, but alas my hands and arms are indispensable to me. Braking my clavicule actually forced me to take a 2 week vacation from work. Eventually It was good enough that I could work while resting my arm on a pillow, but man, one has no idea how many unnoticed movements one does with their arms until they cant xD.

@Hazarth "one has no idea.." 100% true that, mate. this is such an unusual phase of life that i never thought would be part of my journey, and I still can't comprehend it's impact on my future. hope everything gets better.

is it possible to connect on some more social platform? like insta or fb?

@dotenvironment I'm sure it will get better, even though it takes time and even few weeks feel like forever, but once again, the human body is pretty good at regenerating, it just takes a bit of time

Also no offense meant, but I'm not really looking for connections and I don't use social platforms, just not my thing. I much more enjoy slow boards and forums
