My supervisor does VB and calls himself a programmer.

@gosubinit no. Apparently he said that he created a system in excel but the colleagues didnt know how to use it. I felt that it's not the colleague's fault that they dont know, he didnt teach them how to use it. From that, he told us not to make new systems for colleagues to use. I seriously didnt like how he fall into his own failure

At least his statement opens you space to ask him to accept your time estimations. As programmer, he should understand the complexity of your job.
