New dev at our company. After two weeks he has finished a feature for a project. Want to merge it into the dev branch ... he worked in the master branch.

Lol, I've seen this happen a few times...

I worked with a large multinational company in Ireland for a 3 month internship before. I was put on a big internal project, everything was committed directly to master. I really hope they werent doing that on consumer facing products.
