Something that really grinds my circuits:

When programmers talk about making their own language but they know nothing about programming language theory.

What most people think of designing a language is actually just replacing keywords.

Not trying to make my own language, but I don't really understand what I'm doing. I make thing work, but I have no fucking clue what's going on. It's unrelated to your rant but I felt the need to say that. Sorry

@EdwinMiranda it is unrelated because in my rant I'm talking about people who are in essence demeaning a field of study by greatly oversimplifying its complexity.

What you're doing is eagerly pursuing a passion and you're doing it well enough to know what you don't know (which is surprisingly not a simple task). Kudos to you good person.

@cliatt what's worse is when people say they want to create a new or better language but fail to answer why.

Undermines their whole argument. Clearly, if they can't answer than they are just saying they want to make a language for giggles.
