I think people have right to be pissed because this update can and will slower your CPU in some cases up to 30% (according to what I read) so...

Imagine you bought i7 for 1000$ and now it becomes calculator. WTF Intel?

And this is gonna affect also you. For example servers will run with less power.

I think Intel totally fucked up and should really compensate people with these CPUs.

@lamka02sk Also...I have some conspiracy here. What if Intel did this on purpose to boost performance and beat AMD?!

@lamka02sk The only Intel chips I have are in laptops I use for stand by situations or CTF events, it doesn't impact me much and I don't see me wanting compensation as Intel is working with my OS vendors for patching. Security flaws exist everywhere, nothing is safe anyways. Server wise, it shouldn't be just Intel being used in architecture, AMD can almost hold up just as well and in this case, be more secure.

Fuq amd marketing rebrands with slight improvements as new products that are shit! Intel is expensive yes but they do way more research! Elf !

@deekay AMD is only vulnerable to 1 of the 2 exploits, and it isn't an easy one to exploit; Intel is vulnerable to both...you're welcome. Being that, I'll continue my happy dance and enjoy. @noogli And as we've seen, Intel apparently didn't do enough research for Meltdown and are still more expensive for a slight speed gain over AMD...well, after this that slight speed gain is moot.

@lamka02sk I thought about what you said about Intel doing this intentionally for their core speed advantage. That does make sense as it'd give a slight speed boost. Being that they're vulnerable to Spectre and Meltdown vs AMD is only vulnerable to Spectre, I think they're rethinking how the implement protections.

@7root AMD isn't affected by it. Hothardware.com states this as does the Linux OS group at AMD. The Linux patch, however, treats it as insecure despite AMD already having built in protections. AMD has stated to not enable the patch on Linux if on their CPU.

AMD just announced they're not vulnerable at all to Meltdown or Spectre. AMD FTW

@Wallpaper well maybe if AMD had some good CPU when I bought my i7 6800k I would give them a go. It's not out fault that at that time AMD cpus were shit compared to Intel.

@tahnik Of course not and I'm not 110% about AMD because I'm all for competitors fighting neck to neck, but it's 2018 and the situation has changed. Intel is trying to keep users from fleeing by claiming AMD may also be vulnerable, which as of now they said they're not. Clearly, that's BS and now articles are everywhere saying the same thing. "Fakenews" applies here I guess?

@Wallpaper yeah, intel has been acting like shit for a while now. Trying to play monopoly on the market. I am happy that they got this hit.
