Why for fucks sake can't I motivate myself to finish my thesis?

I mean I guess it is because I already got my third raise in my current (full-time) job because of hard work, which left not much time for side projects (or thesis writing).

On top of that, there is nothing which forces me to finish. My Prof. does not really care. I would probably not earn more because of a higher degree. Only thing is I have to pay the fee for enrolment once a semester.

Also, going back to my thesis project after some time, and having to upgrade all the npm modules in there does not help.

Even though I already have a working backend and proof-of-concept app, something blocks me from finishing all this work.

It is a curse. I would do so many side projects, but I tell myself that I first have to finish my thesis before doing anything else.

It is some kind of loop and I have yet to find the return condition.

@three333 I know this is blasphemy, but devRant is by far not my biggest time killer.

The biggest is gaming and the fucking documentation about gaming time everywhere makes me feel like a fool.

I mean I put around 1000h of 2017 into it.
To compare it, my Thesis accounts for 30 ECTS. 1 ECTS is worth 25h which means I could have written it in that time and still get another 250h out of my gaming hobby.

But who has the motivation to do practically the same things after work?

I only played a very marginal number of hours on my dated PC. Most of them are on the Nintendo Switch, starting with 200h BotW alone and the rest distributed over about 20 other games.

I even told myself to stop buying new games in november and play what I have. At least that was successful until today.

And honestly, until the flood of games stops on the Switch I see no reason to ever upgrade my PC because it is sufficient for my programming tasks (even with the meltdown patch).
