Oculus have "paused" developing the Linux SDK since 2015. HTC is doing quite well. Linux SDKs on VR always seem to be in beta. Despite all that, I write Gear VR apps using Android Studio and Unreal on Linux and I wouldn't have it any other way. Not a Windows hater, but I'm way too invested in *nix that at this point if a product doesn't support *nix, I'll take my custom elsewhere. Just to reiterate, I'm not a Windows hater, have done a few commercial .net core projects and I like it (developed & deployed on *nix).
