dotPy57687yI know I hate that it doesn’t support Linux. If you’re serious on developing software for developers/ game designers then consider that developers like to use Linux and want Linux to grow.
-
dotPy57687yI remember a tutorial that you can use a Windows machine to compile and export your game to Linux. (correct me if i’m wrong)
But still, if they could make Unity cross-platform (which i doubt they will or atleast support Linux seriously) I would be so happy -
dotPy57687y@Nanos In the C# variety I know of none, but cross platform game engines that I think comes close to Unity could be Godot Engine because it kind of support C++ from what i’ve heard.
-
@Nanos "multiple devices for development" - you can host it all on a server VM or locally, thats how I bypass having to own iOS devices most often too.
Regarding cross platform dev: theres tons of game engines that run everywhere (thats mainly why they even have a linux runnable), just check some games on those indie dev websites that have a game library for linux.
I would love to tell you the name of that one engine I knew for a while runs on basically everything, thats common on those linux games, but I cant remember it at all, just have that blurry image of the loading screen infront of me. -
@savethecode @Nanos found it "Löve" - love2d.org, apparently its only for 2D, but I saw impressive games done by it, have seen it infinite times in the games that did rob my time on linux gaming back then, it runs on android and ios apparently too.
edit: oh, just noticed, it was actually asked about 2D, then its perfect.
edit: well its lua though, but thats not too much of a problem tbh.
Why the hell is Unity so bad at Linux, I just created a new project and it crashed everytime. Now I’m using Godot Engine, good things open source and stable.

software company should support linux
