Torn between Down voting reposts and letting them slide because OP is new 🤔

I don't want to see devrant become a haven for downvote misuse, so I try not to downvote unless the post/comment is unbearable.

I believe down vote for repost doesn't count against the user... it is just a flag for the folks that use the "hide reposts" feature.

What @T3hbeowulf said is correct. If it's simply a re-post just ignore it or you're welcome to down vote it with the re-post reason which doesn't penalize the poster unless it happens a lot, and the vote helps everyone because it hides the post for those with who have opted in to hide reposts.

While it might be frustrating if something was just posted recently, remember that the default sort in the app is algo and not recent.

Over the next week or so we're going to be making a lot of changes to the algo and it will start mixing in some older content which should expose people more quickly to popular but older content.
