At least you're both in the same industry, I bet you have plenty of things to talk about!
-
Badkiss1198yyeah, we talk a lot about the same stuff which is great. Just had to rant it out, lol!
-
Badkiss1198yViner, the worst part is that he was there when she said it and he did admit that it was pretty bad afterwards when we went home.

tytho23148ySeems a little weird for someone to compare your two jobs like that. I'm sorry for what you have to deal with... And I agree that UX is just as important as the development side (me being a developer myself). Every time I've gone cowboy coding (coding before any design work) I've always felt like the back end was a bit awkward to work with, but the times I've worked with someone in UX, it ends up being way more elegant. I never do development work without some sort of UX work being done first now, even if it is just a quick consult.
-
Badkiss1198y@tytho and it's the same for me, I consult devs before I start designing the ux to make sure it works and not cause problems for devs. UX and dev go hand in hand together, it's both important.

Don't want to get all psychotherapist, but sounds like there's more going on than just your jobs. Do you really need validation from someone who probably has no clue what either of you really do to feel positive about your skills and contributions?
At the end of the day, if you have clients willing to pay you acceptable money to do work for them, you have to have something going for you.
I hope, though, that your husband doesn't make you feel less than him because you work in a different discipline within the same industry. -
Badkiss1198y@samk actually money isn't an issue for us. He values UX as he's the one who encouraged me to get my Master's in HCI. it's just that his mom thinks that devs are the gods of the industry. And that they've been joking around that he does make more than me.

darthy20068yA good ux guy/girl is gold no no dimond. So many times i get the client and the serve side set for a mvp and get to deside how ui gonna look and just feel stuipd....
would like to develop this side so much... so, more power to you -
Your job is equally as important. Outside the industry people just do not understand. You guys should build a product together. Did you ever consider doing that?
-
Badkiss1198y@Jumpshot44 we have considered it many times before but we're so busy with our full-time jobs that we still haven't 😂

Young devs out there. Wife first, mom second. Don't let your mom's make your wife feel like shit.

being an android app developer. I have a feeling that designer is the king in app making...I always envy good designers
So I'm a UX Designer and my husband is a Mobile Engineer so obviously he makes more. I swear my field doesn't get enough credit it deserves (considering we're the ones figuring how the user will use the app/site/whatever device). My mother in-law decided my work isn't as important as his and that I stand below him. Gee thanks for the biggest insult, even when I had to go to grad school for 2 years, worked full-time at the same time so that we could help his family with some stuff considering we're the only couple who is capable of it. :/

family sucks
