One of my potential clients insisted we guarantee that the software we build will be bug free for a year. Was almost tempted to ask if they'll be OK if it crashes and burns after that.

    surely they mean bug fixed for a year?!

    @ThomasRedstone I thought so too, but no!

    quadruple the price and quarter the feature set, and maybe ;-)

    oh, and full speed freeze before the planning begins (never mind coding!)

    @ThomasRedstone lol, they were crazy, we told them to go with somebody else.

    @lenawaab

    A hard, but smart move. Fuck that shit. If they're asking for that right off the bat... imagine what it's going to be like 50% of the way through the project.

    Let them go find some "Professional Development Agency" from India/Ukraine/etc who are _totally_ willing to make the app "free bug"... as soon as they release the milestone ;)

    You should've given the guarantee of it being bug free. Then added a timer for a year in the code which kills the script 365 days from launch.

    @uziiuzair Ha, can't say I didn't consider doing that ;)

    @lenawaab the look on their face a year after the guarantee ends would be priceless xD

    This is usually how schools and similar acts, same goes for their hardware; they need a guarantee/insurance for at least X years - so that no additional money will be spent on maintenance and such

    But bug-free?😂 should be that you included support and fixes for a year, anything else is stupid.. but clients are, usually, stupid.
