retoor15886dNah, that's just the tip of the iceberg. That lag that the os has (unless you have some super computer) should be criminal. My decade old laptop blasts my dads new laptop away in responsiveness (xubuntu 24, x270 8gb 128gb). #vroem

Why would any company base their tools on some other system besides theirs? Are you expecting a media creation tool that runs on Linux? I think any ISO online is going to be out of date anyway. It seems to me that using your own operating system to bootstrap another system is just fine. What urks me about Linux is that it is easier to use windows to build a boot usb to install Linux. Maybe this has gotten better, but I have boot media builder for windows that works very well building media for most usb boot drives. I ran into a lot of issues with linux based solutions.

@Demolishun Not the point here - if you try downloading windows ISO's from official M$ site you will get waaaaay slower download speed than using their media creation tool. This is the point, intentional handicapping.
And if you try to dare downloading windows 10 iso rather than 11 you might need to wait hours for download to finish.
This is from personal recent experience, my net is fast and was perfectly fine, but download still took hours to complete... -
CN257295d@Demolishun No? I was trying to download their shitty operating system to a media, but they're intentionally prolonging the Windows installation, which means there's a higher chance of me saying, "Fuck it, I do not want this piece of proprietary shit."
Microsoft is a greedy piece of shit company. I hate them. They continuously make my life harder. I'm an arch user, but I had to install Windows on another laptop. Guess what? They literally to throttle the downloads for the ISO itself unless you use their ass Media Creation Tool. Recently, they also removed some drivers from the said ISO, which literally can't be found anywhere, so they pretty much force you to use their shitty media tool from another Windows machine to get a working installation.
