What's the main difference between Ubuntu 16.04 and 17.10?

@HAlex LTS versions are more stable.

@HAlex The biggest difference is the switch to Gnome as desktop environment.

Um, the biggest difference is a switch to software that's already available in previous versions? Anything else?

17.10 is an awesome release for UbuntuMATE... call me a weirdo but I don't really like what Canonical did to the GNOME desktop. I'm not really a GNOME guy anyway, but I'd rather use a more stock build from, say, Pop!_OS. Just add the topicons extension and I'd be sorted.

@DLMousey Something similar happened to me once. Whenever I upgraded Ubuntu back then it would replace the graphics driver with an incompatible one.

    Ugh...Ubuntu, it's everywhere!

Great for GNU/Linux, but remember there are other distros out there!

@HAlex 17.10 has newer software, driverless printing, the GNOME desktop, and no swap partition by default.

I liked 17.08 more. It just had a better feel to it.
