does anyone else find it ironic that github (used for the development of open source, free software) has paid features?

Infrastructure costs money, they got to get the cash from somewhere.

@ScribeOfGoD GitLab also has a paid service for enterprise. They just offer a lot in comparison to github for the personal tier.

There are a lot of companies working with open source and offer paid services.

Often its for support or hosting.

It's a business and the folks there need to buy coffee and sushi and sometimes even pay rent.

Loads of companies bundle and support open source software and make money. This is a good thing.
