When you feel like your falling behind because at work you don't unit test, use dependency injection or pretty much anything the devs in the community discuss.

    IMO that's a blessing indisguise. What I would do if I were you is begin to implement it myself. When I joined my company I wrote 1500 unit tests (they had none). Now I am working on using module loaders and web-optimizers as they use none. Then at your next job you look like a superstar cuz you alone spearheaded major development flows when you worked there. -- now if your current boss doesn't want to do updates... Then that sucks.

    About 5 years ago, I took two years away from front end dev because of a back end job. When I came back to it, I was like 'what the hell have you all done!?!?'

    Now I have to slowly get myself caught up.
