(IMHO) The current system fails to identify that there are at least 2 main paths one can take in our field. Software engineering and computer science.
Software engineering should not be just a course. It should be a craft, a degree. Where one can learn practical things not just algorithms that are used in niche cases.
Computer science branch won't be that different from what we've got now. It can be even more focused on theory.

    I assumed that many reputable universities have an engineering faculty that offers a major in software engineering, as well as a science faculty that offers a major in computer science. Is this not true?

    @rhubarbcode I think a lot of universities are beginning to do this, but even so they organizations/schools are young and the people teaching the classes don’t have the relevant experience to be teaching what people are doing in the real world today
