I started a new job a few days ago. I'm already adapting to the team's workflow and codebase. A new offer came up, same salary, but the company is near my place and have many green field projects. It wouldn't be any legal repercussions if I quit, but I would feel guilty for resigning just a few days after starting, the employer would have to start the hiring process all over again and some bridges will be burnt. Damn! I really don't know what to do: being unethical and take what is best for me, or being ethical and stay where I already am /:

Is it a big company you're in now?

@milkybarkid Yes, kind of big, their app has more than 10 million downloads, though their code is kinda messy and unreadable since it is legacy code brought from Brazil full of comments and notations in portuguese. This other company is more of a startup with many green field projects.

Look, never feel guilty. If they for some reason decided your position was no longer required they would get rid of you without giving a flying fuck about you. Do what is right for you, most employers are ruthless cunts who just focus on money. They are not and never will be your friends (even though they pretend to give a shit).

Are you sure the startup won't be shitty?
You may be trading a good company for a crappy one just because it's nearer

@RickDiculous179 Not really sure. They've been running for 5 years now. One friend from college works there and says it's a good company.

@FerDensetsu I would ask for a few choice code snippets if you have a friend there and judge for myself.

I was in a similar situation with a previous employer... Yes his startup is still going and a friend had said it's a good company but turned out it's all a house of cards.
Mad clients, bad code, hostile environment, etc.
