What is the longest commute you would consider for a dream job? Let's take mode of transportation into consideration too.

I just got an offer for a job 2.5 hours away, but it is by train so I can code/game/sleep while riding. For a few months, I am going to try it before moving closer.

    I once had 2 hours per way. So I rented a tiny room in the other town and slept every second day there. I would either stay in the office until late evening and then go to my shady room and sleep, or I would go home earlier. This way I travelled only once per day instead of twice.

    @paranoidAndroid interesting idea! It would save on train tickets.

    My only issue is that I am married, so I don't think my wife would be thrilled.

    @owithg I was not living together with my better half back then, so it did not change how often we saw each other. I'm sure you could work it out though if it's just a temporary thing.
