I started working in a company where they use scala/akka stack, that requires a huge amount of hw resources to compile and debug, so my boss bought me a new laptop: a MacBook Pro. I came from a Dell with Linux Fedora, and now:
FUCK YOU APPLE YOUR COMPUTERS ARE SO SHITTY
JUST EXPLAIN ME WHY THE FUCKING KEYBOARD IS SO A PIECE OF SHIT WITH THE FUCKING COMMAND KEY
FUCK YOU COMMAND KEY
FUCK YOU MAC OS WITH YOUR SHITTY POLICIES YOU CAN'T INSTALL THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO ENABLE UNKNOWN RESOURCES
FUCK YOU BREW AND BREW CASK WHAT THE FUCK OF TWO SHOULD I USE
FUCK THE STUPID TOUCHBAR I WANT THE FUCKING ESC, DELETE, F1, F2 AND SO ON
FUCK YOU APPLE YOUR MAC IS FRAGILE AS FUCK I CAN'T THROW THAT FROM THE FIFTH FLOOR OF MY BUILDING LIKE A THINKPAD
FUCK YOU SAFARI THAT YOU DON'T REFRESH THE PAGE WITH F5

I have a small gif for you just to explain how much shitty is Mac OS

Calm down. You just don’t know how to use a Mac, no big deal... And that gif... oh, guess what - it’s not a Mac problem, just any terminal with wrong encoding ;)

I'm Linux user since 10 years and this fucking os based on Unix/gnu tools it's a total shit.
Ps is Intellij Idea terminal, never had before this problem with this command on Fedora...

I don't like OSX either, but this sounds like a user problem to me

Dude. That terminal is form Jetbrains.
I am already reported thise issue to them but they are not willing to fix.

Dont blame that console on Mac
    But Mac sucks

It sorta looks like the bugged state Hyper can get into if you cat or vim a binary file.

I can understand the Scala/akka frustration though, 100%. You using SBT? it takes soooo looooong to spin up, I hate it

MacOS is not based on GNU anything. It has bash, but that's basically it. Almost everything else is from the BSD camp.

You can install GNU coreutils and all the rest with homebrew though. I did and gave them a better PATH placement.

I'm a huge fan of iterm2. It's easily my favorite terminal emulator. I like that the opengl based GUI is accessible with an open API, allowing for userspace apps to do great stuff with it.

For system administration and development, MacOS is a solid OS, in my opinion. I do prefer Linux over it, and that's what I use at home, but in the office, if I have to use a proprietary OS, then I will choose MacOS over Windows any day of the week.

However, if they try to replace my 2015 MacBook Pro with the newer version without an escape key, then I will opt for a Dell and install Linux on it.

@stisch don't talk to me about sbt, i come from Java world where maven at least need one minute to resolve deps/compile, while in scala in some big projects i need to wait 5-7 minutes

@Kimmax It's a user problem and that's exactly what i'm talking about: why tre fuck apple want to do the super simple and standard things very different, for what reason?
I feel a dumb while i'm using the Mac and this is not what a user should feel only because comes from another os/laptop.
I remember when i started with Linux, kde was my first gui, i felt ok to switch from windows. No pain really, until i started using bash for my first time but this is another story 😂

Steve Jobs would simply say "you're using it wrong" 😂
But I totally get your frustration. Changing usability stuff that people are used to since forever is a pain in the ass.

    @mlask are you joking?

That is to do with the intellij or the pycharm terminal encoding you're using. You can change it from the preference.
