Went for a raise. Got more than I wanted (but negotiated so boss thinks he got himself a deal). Fells good 😀
On the other side, with that I just reached lower end of average developer's wage in Poland...

What does that mean? Were you getting paid really low before that?

@esaysimyan To put it blunt - yes. I work in a small company and as a person with low experience, right now around 1.5 year, I was earning 18 PLN brutto per hour. From April it will be 26 PLN per hour. Median of average wage is around 36 PLN per hour.
I started in this company and I'm grateful that they gave me an opportunity to gain this experience and work for them, even though I'm a student and am working around half the time.

Step by step. And with each negotiation you gain self-esteem, so well done.

@CWins Exactly! I feel incredible that boss was even willing to negotiate wage like that.

If one works by average 164 hrs / month, a salary of 18 zÅ‚oty per hour is ~ €700 per month. That would not even be enough for my rent here in Sweden!

@silkfire It's enough in Poland, but not much. I'm working around half of time because of my studies, but well... I still live fmwoth my parents, so fortunately I don't have problems with taxes yet.

In freedom units: he's going from about $5.30 an hour to $7.65 an hour.

That will make quite the difference for you, congrats, and good luck getting future bumps (you'll probably have to switch companies at some point)

@Christine Thanks 😀 And well, yeah, I feel like boss would start looking for a replacement for me if I asked for even one coin more 😅

@iKameo Yeah, it is. Well, I'm not entirely sure if I could afford a car or aboard holidays with this salary if I had to live on my own. 99% not, especially since I'm not full time employee.

@iKameo sort of like it's between my country and the bordering Russia. Two different worlds somehow
