@irene You also don't need to wear leather shoes and black wind resistant jackets while visiting New York. But it turns out they wear them for a reason. During the cold seasons the rain and snow make it unbearable to wear anything else. As the wind cuts through normal cotton cloth and the water from the puddles gets into normal shoes. The locals even go so far as to walk backwards to avoid the wind in their face.
Same thing with themes. You don't "NEED" a dark theme. But I'd ranther not need to buy sunglasses to use an IDE. -
I also need a dark theme because I am prone to debilitating migraines given too much bright light. I had it approved at work to unscrew some of the overhead lights for that reason. You want to limit extreme ambient light while using dark themes just as much as you want to limit extreme ambient darkness while using light themes.

rookie157yI understand the frustration, but have you tried dark theme ?? Doesn't dark theme deserve to be a little bit more superior in our world ?? Instead of staring at a bright screen all day/night long isn't darkness soothing ??
-
rookie157y@irene If you prefer light themes alright, but majority of devs prefer darker themes, and there's a difference between reading articles and reading code, https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/... this could help.

rookie157yI knew you will say that, gosh, you aren't giving up
are you ?? How can people use defaults, when you have the power to customize and make your IDE feel like home :/ you sound like a obedient student now a good employee , who works for a big corp or something like that ?? No offense though, but why. -
rookie157yI didn't meant to be superior in any way, but dark themes are optimized and made suitable for devs , not saying bright themes are not, both are good but dark ones are a little bit more comfortable for longer span of time in my case, and I believe that's the case for most devs.
