Do you ever feel like now that you reached your goal of being a developer that there is nothing left to look forward to? I feel like all the best parts of my life are over. I will never have a first love again, I will never be young again, and all that’s left is working a shit job where everyone else could give two shits less about craftsmanship so I can survive and then eventually dying.

A week ago I climbed on to the ledge of the parking garage and intended to jump. But I got scared and climbed back over and threw up everywhere. I feel like I am in a better place now, but I still don’t know what I am living for. It all feels so pointless. Does anyone else on devRant feel that way right now?

No, being a developer is a constantly changing area with new things to look forward to all the time.

And there is so much more than that to look forward to.

I was 30 when I got my first child and everything was new again and you had a million more things to look forward to.

Don’t ever give up, if you feel that way, ask for help.

All problems shrink when you have someone to talk to.

Our comfort zone is our prison.

Get help. Do things differently every day.
Do you have traveled and expirienced the marvels of the world?

Midlife existential crisis.... Yeah it's sucks, but it'll pass. Just hold on strong.

Also, it's probably a good idea to get help, if only to help get a different perspective on your life.
It might feel like there's no point doing it, but if you're in this state then there's also no point in having a point, so you might as well just do it.

Nope. Always new shit to learn (until the machines take our jobs / everything is quantum and beyond the comprehension of us mortals).

Plus there’s always new shit on Netflix / pornhub if things ever get too dire.
