Spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out why nginx was throwing a permission error even though I had the proper user/group permissions. Ends up that the entire path to the web root must have +x applied to it, not just the webroot!!

    Its worse when you want write permissions for everyone in a dir. (If they make files and dirs AFTER you +w it...)
