It happens sometimes when you hit some circular links in filesystem. Then it will copy until all free space is gone...

@millido True. Every computer in the college runs on Fedora, some on Ubuntu and there are a handful that are dual booted with windows.
Fun fact : Most students don't use windows regularly except for certain tasks that are not fully supported in Linux yet. eg: Gaming. I myself haven't touched windows since about a year. -

@silverstar I would research overflow. Start off with integer overflows, they're the most common. Then research buffer overflows.
It's a generic type of error, not something that is specific like copying files. -
@noveusurp Yes I'm aware that Linux fully supports gaming except that many games are not available on Linux as compared to Windows. Yeah MS sucks
This I call a perfectly drunk computer.
I think the number of files present were too large that the system could not count all of 'em at once. Am I even right?
