Has anyone tried the mastodon social network and did you like it?

I fairly recently switched from twitter to Mastodon, I'm really enjoying its community and how it is based around particular topics (or anything really depending on the server admins), twitter was becoming way too generic even when following specific people (the ads too were very annoying) so having a way to separate the different things you want to view is very refreshing. I think that it is fantastic that it is distributed as well, there is some really cool tech being used.
