Normal human sleep cycles are most likely more cyclical with short periods of awake and sleep (like most other mammals). This whole trying to get 7~8 hours every night and work 8 hours a day really fucks with the way our brains evolved.
People who don't do well in the morning are, at worst, though of as lazy and, at best, are classified as "not a morning person." In reality we all work best at different times, but our world does not accommodate for all these different people/brain-types. Instead many of us are expected to be up and packed tightly into that train at that ungodly hour on our way to the office/shop/whatever... -
I see your point but in the same train of thought, being civilized means being able to control one`s feelings and urges, so that you don`t simple act them out.
And while we all have a “same same but different” circadian clock, because we all work together we need to find a compromise.
Do you have kids? Well if you do working from 9 to 5 is a lot easier. They usually need 12 hour sleep until they are like 5 to 7 years old. So sleep time at 7pm wake up time at 7am. And you can`t be in the office in between those times can you?
So conclusion? 9 to 5, because that is the best option for the future generation and therefor humanity at the expense of the “not a morning person”.
But thats okay, coz lifr is suffering aint it? -
Look at a new born baby. From day 1 it is struggle, and it never ends. The cold, the unknown, cant move, full dependence on the parents, the foods, school, bullying, learning math and reading, socialization, popularity, job, self control, selfishness, old age, sickness...
You dont have insomnia when you cant fall asleep until 5am and then wake up at 4pm.
