Anyone able to tell me why people hate so much on PHP and still do? Is it really that bad a language?

It's trendy to hate on it. It is beginner friendly and there is a lot of bad code

They are just idiots that probably have never used PHP7.
It's sexy af to write and looks absolutely beautiful.
It's easy to get started with, but that's also the only bad thing about it. If you write shitty code, it will work, but look shitty.

I believe the problem with PHP a side of it's sketchy syntax and other tech problems is it's history, see I think the great BOOM of PHP came with Apache, 1$ per month servers and web designers.

When dynamic websites started to be a profitable area most web designers digged balls deep into PHP as it was a preinstalled default language that came with all Apache webservers which hosting companies started giving away for almost nothing; as the language itself is easy and could easily be embedded within HTML a whole lot of web designers started coding and selling websites, copying code snippets and just making a mess as they weren't familiar with actual software development.

PHP 7 is greatly improved and has everything a modern development language can ask for. Its just a bandwagon to hate on it now. Nothing more.

Bandwaggon mentality mostly. The language is fine for what is supposed to do.
