So I work in a so called agile team of 5 people, where on of the members has the role of tester. Now this person doesn't have much technical experience, if any, in regards to coding, so the purpose of the tester is primarily to fo automated UI tests and system testing. Am I in the wrong for questioning the importance and relevance of this role, or is it just because in my previous work experience, the developers had the responsibility for testing whatever was made, and I just have to get used to this new way of working?9

Heya. Now I feel like a fool for asking and it has been bothering me for a while.
I want to get into native application development, but I simply cannot wrap my head around how to connect a backend to the frontend.
I have been doing web development, I understand the concept of endpoints and I am able to do http requests for web apis etc. But when it comes to creating it in some native application, I have no clue what to do.
Does anyone have a good post or video that describes these connections, as for some reason I cannot seem to find any.
Hope it's understandable,
Cheers4 -
Once again, we delivered our semester project and this time, we added working concurrency to an existing functional language compiler, which is pretty cool. But I'd probably be more happy if I had been developing more on the compiler than once again being stuck writing the fucking paper because none would be arsed to write it otherwise...

As a part of a project in university, we are making an extension to a functional programming language, made in Scala. One of my groupmates had made some fancy logic with spawning threads, but we had some issues with multiple function parameters. Me and another mate have then spent like 3 days trying to figure out the problem, only to realise he forgot a $ sign in string interpolation for naming parameter. Talk about feeling like you're wasting time 🙃

I have entered the world of Linux using Manjaro and boy, how I don't regret a thing. Except for an apperant ctrl+alt+backspace command that kills everything. I don't like that.2

I have just gotten my first developer position as a RoR developer. Just wanted to put it out there 😁 #NewbieDeveloper4

Anyone able to tell me why people hate so much on PHP and still do? Is it really that bad a language?5

So a the noob I am, I have never coupled my programs with a GUI and only doing console apps, so I wanted to ask you; when making programs, methods and whatever, how do I link these methods to areas in a GUI to make a "proper" application for let's say windows? Any good places to go for ideas and whag framework is recommended?9

Which IDE do people prefer in here? I myself use Sublime for everything other than C# development, in which case I use VS.16

Hey folks, new here.
I'm started to get into some RoR, so I was curious; do you have know any packages/extensions (context is irrelevant) that you think I should check out?6
