Meanwhile US government under Biden was trying to lock down AI to only allow specific companies to do it. They wanted to lockdown AI like they did a bunch of math during WW2. From what I can tell the new admin is putting a stop to that. But I don't know for sure.
So some dick somewhere was pushing to take AI away from individuals. -
@Demolishun the danger of AI is if governments or private orgs have it and the average person doesn't
power asymmetry -
retoor61132d@Demolishun banning AI would be the worst thing they could ever do. The knowledge is here, it's unstoppable. The only thing what you get for banning AI is not getting elected again.
Btw, is trump maybe going so hardcore because he will not be possible to be elected again? :P I mean, he goes hard and doesn't care about any democrating opinion at all :P But i understand it completely. Let's face it, they have bullied Trump hard, like really hard. Ofcourse they created their own monster.
I'm surprised that not a lot of people were like "Oh my god, they're going too far regarding Trump, it's not normal anymore". Instead, they think "Oh, that man is so bad!". Open your eyes fuckers. -
@retoor they went hard because the entrenched un-elected bureaucrats are getting fired right now. People that are pure parasites. The elected officials are complaining because their money laundering through various means is coming to an end.
Stopping illegal immigrants stops human trafficking. Which includes women and children. It also stops fentanyl. He is fighting sick sick people.
This has not been a normal election cycle since 2016. The old rules don't apply. I do have concerns that some of this is a ruse, but I can't do anything about it if it is. But nothing feels like the same old we got with previous admins. This seems completely different.
I just saw yesterday they sacked a guy in the FBI for preventing disclosure to the public. That kind of stuff I don't remember seeing in the past. Huge shake up in power structure in DC. I also have yet to see Executive branch overreach. But I have seen judicial branch overreach. Wild times. -
Amazingly, it was China of all entities that really busted the door down when it comes to the sharing of viable locally hosted and high quality ai models.
Uncensored and very long context models are the only way ai will ever truly change things for the better. That will never happen if the ideologues that essentially have the monopoly on ai are allowed to keep their monopoly.
They have a vested interest in keeping the average person ignorant and powerless. The models that are available to the general public are lobotomized and limited to prevent people from thinking the wrong things, when they have uncensored and unlimited models they use to more effectively wield power over us. -
retoor61132d@cuddlyogre yes, i do think there's some top secret super LLM runing there uncensored making conclusions that would make your mind blow.
-
@retoor yes, I think its called Looking Glass or something related to Alice and Wonderland. David Wilcock was hired to evaluate output from that project. They didn't like his expert opinion on the subject. Which basically said the entrenched government would lose power.
-
retoor61132d@Demolishun I think, if you want true power, you should let that thing invent a religion.
Edit: scientology could be a modern one, nice try.
But a lot of people are acting like government is religion these days in NL. So brainwashed. -
@retoor ye science and government are both religions and have been for a while
every institution which tries to create a reputation beyond reproach becomes a religion -
@cuddlyogre I heard it was the same with solar panels. Could only get them from Germany, and they were super expensive, then the Chinese started making them
-
@retoor I used to wonder how the Nazis could brainwash so many people to embrace evil and government control. I don't wonder about that anymore.
Just make people fear. Then offer the solution. -
@Demolishun "banality of evil"
not fear... worse honestly. people just wanna get through their day. you make them into a big compartmentalized system. we run our world this way everywhere
when I began working I was very confused and distraught. as a kid I was a pirate and used adblock for everything. my education gave me an internship I couldn't say no to at a big business big data marketing and data mining company. I had concerns about things we did but nobody else did. to them, it's compartmentalized... they don't know the consequences of their actions on people. I wrote software that discriminated pricing, offers, sales calls to people based on their income, family, etc.. and disallowed lower level workers from giving people better deals. I tied the hands and made the world worse. no wonder people don't make personal relationships with companies or "sales reps" anymore. companies prevent sales reps from actually having any power to be an effective middleman between corp & customer -
retoor61132d@Demolishun het doel heiligt de middelen. Trump is doing well. 'murica first, he delivers I guess. Just because Trump talked without Europe with Putin. Europe is steaming their citizins mentally ready for war.. NO REASON AT ALL. They just do it. They're crazy. Nothing happened.
-
@retoor Well one thing happened they "donated" all their old equipment and now need to check if the new ones work
-
@retoor USA doesn't want open war with Russia or China. Russia doesn't want open war with USA or China. Not sure what China wants. China is in cyber/economic war with USA.
If any of these get into open war then kiss the world as we know it goodbye. Nobody with any sense of self preservation wants that.
I can't imagine regular people want war. It is always the media that pushes this. -
retoor61132d@Demolishun exactly. The media is driving it. I feel so bad for the people that are in that media psychosis. But the media has to do it, it has to make something even more extreme than covid. After this, it will be aliens. For sure. How's the USA ufo doing btw? I don't hear anything about that anymore. Finally shot down?
-
@retoor they shot some down over 60 years ago. They have had ARVs (alien reproduction vehicles) for decades now. There is ideas that our tech got a springboard on what we learned from reverse engineering.
The location that received the Roswell craft went on to become a materials development location. One of the materials they created was carbon fiber to use in stealth jets. That location was also a site used to develop the first nuclear bomb.
The internet used to be full of these stories. Now it just sucks shit with assholes who do stupid shit to get views. -
@jestdotty why to you think they're hoarding all the GPU????
Have you seen the price of a recent one? I was never big into hardware but It used to be around 100-200, now it's 4x that. -
@Demolishun If you wonder how Nazis brainwashed people so eadily read about "The Third Wave" (IRL experiment)
-
jestdotty667415h@antigermgerm hmmm I was told that was due to crypto
which I'm not sure makes any sense. because you're better off making a custom chip for crypto instead of using a GPU
so I think the whole hoarding narrative is just so they can mark up the price and prattle on about artificial scarcity so people don't complain
I think Nvidia is notoriously hated by people who have to deal with them. they're scammy. will sell you busted chips. basically if they have a assembly line issue what they do is then they remark the card as something else and sell it to you. you're just their loss prevention. I mean it's smart but it's also a big dick move
possible there's some tension between Nvidia and China due to political reasons and that's being covered up, which is causing issues with some chips. bureaucracies when they are hostile just "delay" production and slack. there's no reason for Nvidia to have a security at any rate -
BordedDev110840m@jestdotty Correct on the mining thing, but the GPUs resell value are higher. The conspiracy I've heard is that nvidia was pumping out the china GPUs ahead of tarrif increases

AI can only take off if the average gaming video card can do AI calculations
which means it can't not happen
it also means that AI won't be centralized but will be self-hosted and we will have personal ones (which I think is superior for other reasons but I digress). no totalitarian skynet state will happen. they can't make it
currently these GPU companies are making separate GPUs for gaming and AI. their AI profits are 90% of their revenue, gaming under 10% so they're ignoring their gaming customers. but the people buying these AI cards are not the ones innovating. the innovators are using home GPUs. the tech won't get there until home cards can host AIs. otherwise you only get innovation to the level home cards can churn it
the lizards need your ingenuity. they can't do a creative thing themselves. all their money be damned. you have to give people access to the tech, the data, or they won't build for you. and these lizards love to hide information. but that just won't do! you can't innovate for them unless you have the information... which I'm using as a metaphor for gpu cards that "know" how to do AI math and do it well. no moat. they need the ingenuity too much and can't trade. funny
