Don't repair anything for FREE ;)
If they willing to pay you 50€ instead of 60€ to the nearest shop, I'd say go for it if you're bored

But if you just want your tranquility, yeahw lock the door!

The problem is that everybody thinks that computer repairs are free because we now each other.... I'm a dev not a technician :)

@iNCEPTiON The problem is that "us devs" are often both pleasers and nitpicks.

When someone tells me at a birthday party about their crappy broken computer, I have a strong urge to start picking parts, asking questions about their budget, etc.

I want everyone to have a perfect system, malware free, with neatly organized file systems, using ethical / non bloat software.

    But it's an endless crusade.

So my parents in law were convinced for the first five years by claims like:

"I'm not that great with technology, could you help me set the clock on the thermostat" (I worked on embedded systems in aerospace at the time)

"What is this Twitter thing I keep hearing about on the news?"

"I am not good with word documents, could you paste it in an email" (I had worked at MS, on the office team)

The ruse didn't last forever, but long enough to not become the IT support guy in the family.
