Screenshots/videos demonstrating your app(s) functionality. People are lazy to read and aren't necessarily interested in characters, rather pictures.

@KeyWeeUsr I only have two apps on android right now, I'll probably do like you said for the git/maven server I have so thank you for the idea

@barawww I have a github account with some old stuff on it along with my old thrown together site, so since this still works I'll put it on my new one.

I guess I'll do a mini blog also with it, maybe it will help

someone you know is probably skilled in design. my advise is to ask him/her for a favor and make sure it looks super slick. lot of people deciding which developer to hire are visually oriented.

Like @KeeWeeUsr said, customers are lazy to read because they will need to go through tonnes of websites to find developers that they can trust. Like everything that happens everyday, people judge based off their first impression and on a website it would be what they see when they land on your page. right now the best designs are simple, clean designs (take Google's homepage as an example). use this to your advantage, create websites that are functional (since you are more of a developer than designer) and looks good. I think you should be able to get people to give you tips on the design.

having good quality pictures is a key thing to attracting people, like using good camera angles and stuff.
