Give the newbie a book about blender and tell him to do learning by doing in his own speed. Then answer the lots of questions that will come up. -
@BambuSource make them focus on learning a few basic tools and mastering them. Especially loop cut and slide, that shit is super cool.
And make them read about the basics of PBR, what is BSDF, standard BSDFs, parameters, etc. -
Start with a cube, then add vertices and extrude to get the shape you want. Don't build parts separately. Think of it like modeling clay.
