Gotta love (video game) soundtracks for programming. They are most often instrumental which distracts the brain not so much from the task but make it easier (at least for me) to get in the zone. Especially with noise-cancelling headphones.

My favorite is all things Metroid, like that one:

(and of course the Harmony of a Hunter albums).

What is your favorite (game or movie) soundtrack for programming?

btw: eagerly awaiting some footage of Metroid Prime 4 at E3. Finally a proper 3D-Metroid after more than a decade of waiting.

Hacknet, Cave Story, VVVVVV and Crypt of the NecroDancer have the best soundtracks. Great games too.

Sometimes I listen to Red Eclipse sound track while working, and I usually end up playing it

@beleg that is one of the problems when hearing game music, you remember the good times you had with the game so that it really makes you want replay it. At least a problem when you come near to a deadline.

Also another good reason (I just recalled) why I like game soundtracks is that they are usually infinitely loopable. Especially constant tempo, this is among the few things that actually help me concentrate for hours.
