When you run out of room trying to write a nice long comment on devRant...

I'm thinking we can up it to 1,000 characters in the next release. I still want to keep them a little shorter because of the current format comment threads are in, with the goal of making the limit even longer in the future.

Personally I feel 500-700 is enough.

That's my personal opinion. I don't read posts if I see [read more] at the end. Rants should be short and sweet rather than being long story.

That's fair. I think in the case of comments it makes sense to make the limit higher because right now when people hit the limit (I do sometimes) they just break it into multiple comments which ends up taking up more space on the screen.
