Pro: your boss probably isn't an asshole.
Con: Your clients probably will be assholes. -
oxmox2916yCons: no payed vacation, health insurance options, no real weekend, first and last thing you are doing on a day is reflecting your Business, thinking you are free because you are your own Boss but deep inside your self you know that this is Bullshit as you are even more closer chained to the fact that you have to work for your money, but even harder and that your real boss(your customer) can put his dick even more deeper in your mouth
Pro: you learn real hard shit -
Weyx216yAre clients more assholes with freelancers than with companies ? I heard that few times..

Weyx216yOkay, so in my point of view, freelancer would be nice on the early years to learn a lot and then switch to a corporate

One con most posts will not focus on:
Freelancing sometimes results in tight deadlines for which you might get used to practices which are probably not the best way to do development. Sure we all cut corners every now and then but I have seen this becoming a norm in many freelancers.
You'll learn a lot but you might not find the time to get into depth of things if you are always being pandered for a deadline.
If you are lucky you might get products/projects where you get to talk to the business domain experts directly and you learn the domain while doing the techy stuff. But if you don't, you'll lose touch with the practise of learning domain. This becomes a detrimental factor to your growth as a technologist. This affects a lot of freelancers who try to jump into corporate for leadership roles later on in life. People skills are very important there. But it doesn't mean you can't grow those skills while being a freelancer. Choose your products/projects wisely :) -
Pros are that you get to call yourself boss, cons is that every client is your boss.
For those of you who tried, is freelancing good ? What are the pros and cons?
