YikYak will probably be used as a lesson in app development on what not to do. They killed their entire app in a single release. Biggest mistake was never listening to their users.

    I've been out of the loop. What did they do?

    They got rid of herds and forced the use of handles. All along though, people were complaining about how handles were on by default, but they didn't listen

    @siliconghost iirc it used to be purely location based? Cool idea

    @benoliver999 they had huge issues with cyberbullying in early days, so perhaps this was a response to that. I know they tried geoblocking at schools.

    They reinstated herds now. But still, they were so patronising and condescending to users that I have no intention to use YikYak ever again. devRant feels much close to me.
