endor57516y@jinryu hmm, that would be weird since my cpu usage was low, it's not even warm...
Besides, my laptop has pretty decent cooling (for a laptop) and has survived much worse in the past without breaking a sweat
(Also I'm sitting at a desk, so the airways are clear) -
@endor School IT tech here, this sounds to me like a loose cable inside the laptop somewhere or possibly a bad motherboard/CPU. It is not the hard drive as if it was the screen would freeze not go dark. Unfortunately this is the best I can do without physically being there. I should also mention that the RAM would go bad slowly, not suddenly, and would also not cause a sudden darkness.

ruhe9166yI have the same problem. It shuts down so fast, it's like some removes the battery.
But for me this only occurs on Windows, never on Linux.
Needless to say, I have no idea as to why that happens -
endor57516y@gitlab hmmm, that would suck if it's actually the case...
Idk, this only happened maybe 4 times in the 3 years I've had this laptop, and every time it was sitting on my desk (so not shaking it/moving it around). I guess I could try to open it up and try with a visual inspection. -
@endor in that case it could actually be a faulty power button or something of that nature, with the fact that it's so rare it's generally not something any IT shop is going to be able to repair properly.

Ok, so my laptop just shut itself down out of the blue while I was working. That's nice.
Just *click* dead. Not even a BSOD or anything. The *click* being the sound of the hdd stopping.
I thought it was a linux-related issue, but this time I was on windows, so it might be a hardware issue I guess...
