I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 app on my machine - Windows 10. And it is fucking awesome. 😄

    You can install it as an app? Or did you mean dual boot? Or VM?

    @agentQ I have installed it as an app. Downloaded from Microsoft Store.

    Oh, so I wasn't the only one to embark on adventure this weekend - I did one better... I purged my Windows 10 install and replaced it with Fedora.

    Currently slamming myself face against the figurative wall of nvidia drivers and gaming on Linux.

    @agentQ oh no - you can install it as an app on Windows now. It provides command line interface only but people have found ways to get X server and GUI to some extent working.

    It's usually called installing as a Subsystem. You can do it through the windows store or whatever it's called.

    @theKarlisK my system throttles like fuck and can't turn of NVIDIA driver. If i do i can't change my brightness level!
    Beat that! 🙂

    @acnair I'm setting up on a desktop, so it's a bit easier for me (no weirt arbitrary drivers to worry about). Still tho, Fedora doesn't seem to quite like the nvidia drivers ... my personal favourite, Manjaro, is threading even worse - it doesn't seem to like my partition layout.

    It's called wondows subsystem for linux, and it's the best linux emulator for windows ever. Supports all the major distro and improved a lot my dev environment. I do .net but also node, react

    @refex I doubt it's called wondows subsystem

    @electrineer *Linux Subsystem for Windows ... is what he probably meant, it's pretty much the only requirement to be able to install: Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian and others as "Windows apps"(I might be wrong which distros are available - I playedaround with this way back when this was still in Insider Preview stage).

    @theKarlisK
    The official name is "Windows Subsystem for Linux" or WSL for short. @electrineer was joking about a typo in an earlier reply.

    @RiderExMachina oh, wow, hadn't even noticed that at first. xD

    @electrineer yeah, typos are a thing...
