Continuing on my previous rants, for the final exam I may or may not have to use Dev-C++ as IDE. Took a look at cplusplus.com, at an article from *2011*:
"Dev-C++ hasn't been updated since 2005."
I fucking swear, someone needs to nuke that school...

On the plus side, at least you won't be plagued by update requests.

@platypus I suppose. Although, on the plusplus side, I won't have to deal with that school again after this either. :)

🤷‍♂️ at least they're teaching you C++, I guess. It still boggles my mind how CodeIgniter and Spring were the height of our "computer science" course where even the difference between short/int/long or anything even remotely related to binary wasn't even mentioned...

@robinj1995 Except it's "beginner's course" (just taking it to be able to take the next ones) with a teacher whose highest level of knowledge in programming is how to start the compiler and run a program. The one single reason I have even been able to manage anything at all is because of knowing a decent amount of programming from learning on my own. :I

And I must say, C++ isn't the ideal language to start with, *at least* not if you want to make people interested in the subject and not intimidate them and scare them off. :/ It's quite complex, and it's hard to find sources that explain stuff in an easy-to-understand way.

The teacher probably has always done it like that and doesn't want toneed to update more than the date on his papers.

We use turbo c in our college so...

@Navigatr clang is a c compiler frontend (a rival to gcc per say)
Turbo c is a c compiler from 90s whose trademark is a blue screen IDE 😅

@Navigatr dude, our school made us code on fucking paper! (And it was case sensitive and with indentation if you're wondering) .....
