@coookie it isn't as bad as most people think. The only thing that will trip you up is the wiki. (They added way too many links for my taste.)
Get a vm and practice install it a couple times, and you'll be good.
Once you know how to install it, it takes almost no time to install a usable system.

it's fedora having the most issues with skylake it seems. Bleeding edge distros would be a much better option on skylake for now.
