there was a function for that here on devRant called colabs. But it was removed because of low demand.

    WhatsApp? Bye✌
  • 1
@heyheni we can still make it alive and plan for a big project
  • 6
@heyheni As far as I know it hasn't been removed, only the dedicated button has. Now it's a filter but you can definitely access it.

About the main topic, it's a noble cause, but I don't think many would actually join through WhatsApp. Many are privacy/security conscious and this service is quite far from that.

@1989 No trust me it works like charm
  • 1
@Jilano do you think it's better to be built on Telegram for example?
  • 3
And my comment about WhatsApp is not due to security. I deleted my account many months back. I won't be installing it anytime soon.
  • 1
@devTea you might be interested i guess
  • 1
@1989 what about telegram for example is it better for you?
  • 3
If we’re following what linuxx said itms probably

    Signal > Telegram > Whatsapp

@Mba3gar well I already have a lot on my plate (univ and work) sorry ;(

I have helped people run programming related community on WhatsApp. People start acting as they are entitled for getting help after sometime and start interfering with your personal time expecting you to help them 24/7.

I would never repeat the past mistakes of my life. Never ever!
  • 1
    @devTea No worries
  • 2
@1989 most of devrants are professionals, don’t worry
  • 2
@Mba3gar Pretty much what @devTea said. While Signal requires a phone number, it does seem to be the only alternative that exists as of now.

I commend the idea, but don't have enough time to do all I want already.
  • 1
@1989 i feel you bruh, but i thought we will gather some senior programmers out of this community and plan something good.
    No worries mate
  • 2
@Jilano can you find an alternative for this ?
  • 2
@Jilano @Mba3gar wire hides your phone number at it’s in between signal and telegram if you guys are interested

    https://wire.com/en/
  • 1
@devTea am ready to use wire if most of the community agree
  • 2
So genuine question. Why not slack if you are interested in starting something for programming? As far as I know it has free account with some message or size restriction.

Better suited for sharing code and anything programming related.
  • 1
@devTea Hum, fair enough. So the only "downside" if we can say so, is the price. Thanks!
  • 1
@1989 @jilano would you guys join if we built something through slack?
  • 3
And most times I don't understand why people want to hide their identity here from their real life. Personally, I speak the same stuff everywhere including my work place.

So nothing I write here will surprise anyone. But that's just me😂
  • 3
@Mba3gar Don't have much time to do side projects for now, so no

@1989 Sometimes I'm even nicer here, it's awful
  • 2
    @heyheni
No, it's not. If you click the plus sign to post something, there's a collab option.

You can even view the collabs by choosing the collab tag.
  • 2
☝She is right. I didn't notice this either
  • 1
    @Michelle interested to join ?
  • 2
@1989 Because privacy issues for me.

I like wire but don't agree with their metadata storage so I'll have a think...
  • 3
@1989 You don't have to understand why people want to hide their identity. I don't understand why someone would use WhatsApp out of free will (or Facebook or Google for that matter).

Not everyone has to understand everyone.
  • 1
@linuxxx My comment was about hiding their real identity on this app. But as you said, I don't need to understand why others want that.
  • 2
@1989 My comment was aimed at that as well)
