There was a pretty big bug that I spent all day trying to pinpoint. It was getting really late, so I called it a night and went to sleep.

That night, I dreamed that I was still at the computer, debugging. I kid you not, in the dream I both found the bug and realized what the fix needed to be. In that moment, I woke up.

I ran straight to the computer down the hall, and sure enough, that was the issue and that was the fix.

Shoutout to the capabilities of the human brain.

Thanks, brain!

Happened a bunch of times to other people, but yeah, the brain is awesome at the very least.

    you know...

over the years.. i've learned a trick:

    1) ask my brain ANY question on any issue

    2) say: "I'm sure i'll figure it out eventually"

    3) go do something else

I think it's the expecting part that makes it work better.. the belief that you'll figure it out. If you just stress about it, you're basically limiting yourself.

This is what the subconscious function is, to crunch problems and find answers.

@rant1ng all true. I have found so many answers from doing things like washing dishes, brushing my teeth, taking a shower, mowing the lawn, (sleeping!) etc. Basically, walking away and doing something else.

Trusting that your subconscious "background processes" will stay hard at work to bubble-up the answer to the conscious brain when a solution is found works wonders. It is always satisfying and it never gets old.

@rant1ng that's actually great advice. I need to try.
