So, what does this RTX thing do that the current ones don't?
Excuse my technical language. -
@platypus it does AI powered blockchain mining on big data with VR immersion on the cloud.
-
@platypus RTX is Nvidia's ray tracing technology. Basically they have made their new cards powerful enough and efficient enough to simulate light rays to calculate shadows and reflections. I'd suggest watching some of their SIGGRAPH stuff if you want to hear Nvidia talk about i.

@S-Homles-MD I have a titan as well but I'm super excited to get my hands on the new ray tracing technology!! I'm super excited to see what game devs will be doing with this tech at their disposal
-
@S-Homles-MD according to Nvidia at SIGGRAF their new RTX Quadro card has 6X improvement in render times in Ray tracing applications and I imagine it may have improved render preformance for normal videos as well
-
The ray tracing tech is very cool however sadly the cards that support this are to be priced at $10,000

Condor323366yWell I could go on a rant about how shitty their drivers and Linux support are, but I'll keep it short. Fuck Nvidia.
-
@thatdudedaniel @S-Homles-MD $500 for the RTX 2070 https://theverge.com/2018/8/...

@Condor yea linux drivers are not great when it comes to stuff like this. Its been getting better though. It's just not there yet and I doubt RTX tech will be coming to linux any time soon since Nvidia did it in collab with Microsoft
